90+ Vintage Military Jackets To Fulfill Your 2010s Rock Star Dreams
Channeling the spirits of 2005-2015 Marc Jacobs' collections
Hello! Halloweekend into the NYC Marathon left me in shambles. Standing with two million people cheering on loved ones and strangers is an unmatched high. I had to take three melatonin to get to sleep on Sunday night after all the excitement.
This letter is the delicious links installment of my last piece focusing on the history and revival of the hussar military jacket. If you haven’t already read: enjoy your meal now! Or feel free to skip to dessert below, I won’t tell.
I think this is the largest number of secondhand pieces ever included in a letter of mine. Breaking records in style! The vintage market is overflowing with these pieces, which means you can 1. find them at a good price before they get too popular and 2. be picky about the style that feels most “you.”
In addition to the retro rock star blueprint, I’m looking to the indie-sleeze-ish and twee-ish military jacket moments of the 2010s for wearable styling. It’s the Aria Montgomery Elena Gilbert of it all…
I’ve included a lot of picks that lean less aggressively hussar and more loosely Victorian and Edwardian in reference. The ‘slightly puffed shoulder with a baby peplum’ category feels much more casually wearable than some hussars (and is personally the style I’ve been drawn to most while jacket hunting this year).
Below the fold is a whole lot of double-breasted details, dramatic shoulders, and extra shiny buttons — more than 90 picks for paid readers ahead ★
