Everything I Bought Secondhand in 2025 & What I Didn't Buy That Will Haunt Me Forever
Looking through my sold saves on TRR gave me heart palpitations
Last night Lorde performed an ultrasound in Brooklyn. Her sonic X-Ray permeated the black puffers and blue jeans — a crowd dressed like a bruise — until we were reduced to skin and bones and belt buckles. I strapped a vintage Prada talisman to my waist for the procedure.
It was the belt bag baby’s first outing, having just arrived in my mailbox this week: my final eBay purchase of 2025. I’d call this a holy grail conquest too — a piece I’ve been after forever, just waiting for the right one to appear to me at the right time. Proof that delicious items at delicious prices come to people with the patience to shop secondhand! And a perfect nylon exclamation point on the end of the year.
In 2024, I reviewed my sartorial year by reflecting on What I Wore Most (also a Lorde-related letter coincidentally), but doing that again this year would be a bit redundant: the ‘24 vs. ‘25 most-worns Venn diagram is nearly a circle. I think that format’ might be best visited biennially.
Rather, this year, I wanted to join in on the fun of a different style of wardrobe reflection letter by delving into my 2025 secondhand purchases. Vintage shopping never gets old because no two people can have the same secondhand fingerprint. (I especially loved Alex’s version sharing the vintage pieces she couldn’t bare to resell and had to keep.)
I also committed an act of self-harm by looking back at all the pieces that slipped through my fingers… it was agonizing.
