As the first snow of the season fell in New York City, forcing us to begrudgingly dig out our warmest and most despised cold-weather defenses, I couldn’t help but wonder… is there a better way?
Season after season I find myself exhausted by traditional styles. On one hand, blazer-y peacoats have that impossibly deep V-neck that leaves my chest exposed to frigid air. And on the other, despite being very warm, puffer jackets can be such a turn off with their awkward hoods and ridges of lumpy feathers. I wouldn’t be surprised if the inventor of the mid-length puffer read the same playbook as the guy who created corn flakes to curb sexual urges.1
Winter outerwear doesn’t have to be attractive, of course — it just has to be warm. But why can’t it be warm and a little sexy? Why not toasty and flirtatious? I think we deserve it all. And I come bearing solutions.
