a Marni ss2000 skirt

My most exciting item of the summer by far has to be this Marni ss2000 skirt I purchased from Little Sister NYC. It is surprisingly versatile despite its hot pink and pale yellow spots and truly energizes me anytime I wear it. I’ve worn it a bit more dressed up with Flore Flore tops in corresponding colors and dressed down with any graphic tee that calls to me.

the softest ‘80s graphic tee

Speaking of graphic tees, my most worn as of late is a vintage Le Coq Sportif one featured above with the Marni skirt and in countless other outfits I’ve worn this summer. It has a cartoon graphic of tennis player and forever fashion icon Yannick Noah, and it’s as soft as my favorite pajama t-shirts.

The cotton is slightly thin after years of wear and sized just so it isn’t clingy and uncomfortable in the heat. What more could I ask for?

going to see a movie when the weather is too much to bear

When the city is being plagued by heatwaves, wildfire smoke, and general summertime yuckiness, taking a few hours to see a movie in an air-conditioned theater is just about the best thing to do.

My latest in-theater watch was David Lynch’s Lost Highway at Angelika Film Center in Soho. An ice-cold Mexican coke was non-negotiable, as the temperature outside surpassed 100 degrees. This was the second movie of my sister and I’s quest to watch all of Lynch’s films on the big screen, and it prompted my one-word Letterboxd review: chic.

buying CDs instead of records

I have amassed a decently large record collection over the years (currently at 152 according to Discogs), but my vinyl bias has started to waver as lately, and I’ve found myself buying more CDs than ever before. In my mind, some albums are so “CD-coded” that it only makes sense to purchase them in that format. This plus the fact that they are usually $5 - $10 has me singing a slightly different tune.

The Galaxie 500 album hasn’t left my CD player for weeks, and has become a bit of a summer soundtrack for me. I got it at the Academy Records Brooklyn location but my favorite place to look for CDs is BOOKOFF in Midtown.

dedicating hours to Tomodachi Life

The moment I found out that I did not need to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 to play Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, I downloaded it onto the teal Switch Lite I hadn’t touched since my previous gaming obsession, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I have always been a fan of games that are a bit slower with lots of focus on character customization and day-to-day gameplay, so it seemed like Tomodachi Life would be right up my alley.

I got to work instantly, creating chibi versions of myself, my siblings, friends, and a hodgepodge cast of public figures. It’s been the perfect thing to pick up when I want to zone out for an hour or so and spend time on a virtual island where PinkPantheress has beef with Dale Cooper and Larry David has a crush on my best friend.
